Every UT hall, cheapest room first
Each 2026–27 academic-year price includes the room and UT’s standard resident meal plan (UT residence-hall rates). The plan provides unlimited dining-hall entry plus $400 Dine In Dollars per term (UT resident meal plan). The ranking keeps each hall’s least expensive contract, its matching room and bathroom description, and the highest confirmed price together so the room types do not disappear behind one starting price.

Which room and bathroom am I paying for?
A shared bedroom with a private bath still means sharing the sleeping space. Check both room and bathroom before comparing prices.

Which halls should I compare?
North Campus includes Andrews, Blanton, Carothers, Creekside, Duren, Kinsolving and Littlefield. South Campus includes Brackenridge, Dobie, Jester East and West, Moore-Hill, Prather, Roberts and San Jacinto.
Whitis Avenue housing is unavailable during reconstruction and scheduled for fall 2027. Check the residential community rules at Creekside, Kinsolving and Littlefield.
Singles are limited. UHD lists a single with community bath at $16,364 and a Duren single with private bath at $20,961.
What do meals and utilities include?
The 2026–27 resident meal plan lists unlimited dining-hall visits and $400 in Dine In Dollars per term. Internet and laundry are in the room bundle.
The older 2025–26 meal row has different benefits. Use the meal plan for the same year as your room price.
Could an apartment be cheaper?
In an invented apartment example, twelve $1,000 payments, twelve $80 utility estimates and a $200 fee total $13,160. That is $1,777 below the Jester example before adding apartment food, parking, insurance and other missing costs.
The apartment example has 12 payments and the dorm covers nine months. Add what you need for the same period before calling the difference savings.
What if I need a particular community or accessible room?
Use UHD’s Living Learning Community and accommodation processes to confirm the specific hall, room and route you need. A housing application doesn’t secure a place in a community.
Does applying guarantee a room?
No. Applying, receiving a contract and choosing a space are different steps. Use the future-, returning- or summer-resident instructions that fit you.
Read cancellation and payment terms before making a second housing commitment.
Your completed housing application sets the queue position
UT lets you apply for housing from August 1 after completing the admissions application, before the admission decision. Published room-selection priority follows when the housing application is complete, including its fee. The contract and prepayment are later gates to a timeslot.
The university-housing share describes where enrolled freshmen live; offer and first-choice probabilities remain unknown. The cost and access comparison explains the queue and current price choices. Dobie will be unavailable for 2027–28; Whitis targets 1,055 beds that year.

Are Callaway and The Castilian UT dorms?
They’re private communities run by American Campus Communities, with their own agreements. Dobie Twenty21 is part of UHD’s hall system.
Compare each private operator’s exact room, food and lease terms with the UT room you’d choose.
What should decide the shortlist?
Compare your room and bath preference, meals, the trip to class and the months you need housing. Choose the bundle that fits your routine and the full budget.
Questions
Which hall fits my room and class preferences?
Check the room and bath inventory, community conditions and the route to your classes. North/South Campus is only a starting point.
What do the prices include?
For 2026–27, room, meals, internet and laundry, including $400 Dine In Dollars per term. Sales tax is extra.
Are prices for one semester or a whole year?
The quoted rates cover fall and spring together, nine months. Summer and the way you’re billed need their own checks.
Are Callaway and The Castilian UT-owned?
No. They’re private American Campus Communities properties. Dobie is in UHD’s hall system.
Does a housing application guarantee a hall or room?
No. You still need a contract offer and a specific room selection.
How we got this
Rates, halls and meal benefits come from UHD, checked October 27, 2026. UHD labels 2026–27 rates subject to review/final approval, excludes applicable sales tax and doesn’t promise an available room.
Dobie’s selected shared-room category is $1,613 below Jester community bath; Duren/San Jacinto’s selected category is $3,227 above it. The apartment comparison uses invented costs.
