How was each UT course graded?
UT grade distributions show how a course was graded in a particular term, including its average GPA and shares of A’s, B’s, and C’s, so compare the same course across semesters before choosing a section. ACC 311’s A share was 37.41% in fall 2024 and 21.66% in spring 2025.
In this guide
Your course, then your semester
- Search the full course code, such as ACC 311 or M 408C.
- Choose the semester you want to compare.
- Check the average GPA and the grade chart together.
The course explorer also links to course descriptions and prerequisites. Check the current Course Schedule before adding a class; an older grade chart doesn’t tell you whether it’s offered next semester.

Spring had fewer A’s, but its average GPA was slightly higher. The rest of the grades matter too. Open fall 2024 or spring 2025 to see the full chart.
What the percentages include
An A percentage counts A’s, not A−’s. “A’s and A−’s” includes both. CR, Q and other grades that don’t affect GPA stay out of these percentages.

How the average GPA works
Each A is worth 4 points, an A− is 3.67 and a B+ is 3.33. We multiply each grade’s points by the number of people who got it, add the results, then divide by the number of A–F grades.
For ACC 151’s example, that’s (138 × 4 + 6 × 3.67) ÷ 144 = 3.99 after rounding. For your own classes, the GPA calculator also accounts for credit hours.
Will the class count toward my degree?
Check the course’s prerequisites, credit hours and restrictions, then run your degree audit. Ask your adviser about a course that doesn’t land where you expected.
A high average GPA won’t help if the class doesn’t fill a requirement or delays a prerequisite you need.
Why can’t I find a course?
The search covers up to 50 classes with detailed charts. For other classes, browse the subject tables or UT’s grade dashboard.
UT also leaves some small classes out to protect students’ privacy. A class missing from our search isn’t necessarily missing from UT’s data.
Use the current syllabus and course description alongside the grades. Past grades tell you what happened in those classes; they don’t measure the hours you’ll study.
Questions
Does a high average GPA mean an easy class?
It tells you students earned higher grades. Check the syllabus, assignments and prerequisites before deciding how much work the class will take.
Why do A’s and the average GPA move in different directions?
The average includes every A–F grade. Fewer A’s can come with fewer low grades, so the average can still rise.
How we got this
The charts use UT’s public grade totals. Averages use the university’s A–F point scale; other grades stay out of the calculation. We add grade counts before calculating percentages.
Some small classes are left out for privacy. The ACC 151 and ACC 310F examples each describe one class section; the ACC 311 comparison combines the available sections for each semester. The downloads below keep the exact totals.
