UT runs three apartment communities that take graduate students: East Campus Graduate, Gateway and Colorado. For 2026–27, rent starts at $619.20 a month for the 2x1 smaller private bedroom at Gateway and Colorado and runs to $1,581 for the 1 x 1 at East Campus Graduate Apartments, with utilities included.

Who can live there

  • East Campus Graduate Apartments: Full-time UT Austin graduate students; at least 9 hours per term. Contract priority favors programs expected to provide competitive funding. Not undergraduate or family housing.
  • Gateway Apartments: Graduate students, families, or undergraduates with at least 30 credit hours; full-time enrollment requirements apply.
  • Colorado Apartments: Graduate students, families, or undergraduates with at least 30 credit hours; full-time enrollment requirements apply.
  • Brackenridge Apartments: Qualifying UT student families; family affidavits required.

What the rent includes

Questions to ask before you apply

  • How long is the contract? UT lists a 12-month minimum stay at Gateway, Colorado and Brackenridge.
  • What will rent be after May 31, 2027? The published table covers the current year only, so ask before you plan a second year.
  • Is liability or renters insurance required, and what does it cost?
  • When does the application open, and when will you hear back? Have a backup lease timeline ready.
