Where can I park in West Campus?
City meter-payment hours for UT West and North Campus are Monday–Saturday, 8 a.m.–6 p.m. Four paid street hours are about $11 before processing fees, but the actual block’s signs and time limit still apply.

Who sets the rules for this space?
City streets, UT parking and private garages have different operators. Paying one doesn’t give permission to park in another.
Scroll the table to compare every column.
| Space | Check with |
|---|---|
| City paid street space | The block’s signs, zone and City parking guidance |
| Residential-permit street | City address lookup and posted zone/hours |
| Private garage or lot | The operator’s agreement and signs |
| UT lot or garage | UT Parking and Transportation |
How much does a street visit cost?
The first two paid hours cost $2 each. Hour three is $3 and hour four rounds to about $4, giving about $11 for four hours before processing fees.
Outside meter-payment hours, loading zones, residential restrictions and temporary signs can still apply. Check the zone and plate before paying, and don’t assume a curb space permits a full-day stay.
Can my apartment address get a street permit?
Check the City’s address lookup. Living in West Campus doesn’t automatically qualify you. Properties with seven or more units are eligible only for day passes under the listed rule, and the application doesn’t accept subleases as lease documentation.
Annual resident permits start at $60 plus tax. Eligible hybrid-area residents can request two vehicle permits without charge; orange-area permits around UT expire July 31 without a renewal grace period.
Could a monthly garage cost less?
For an invented 16-visit month with four paid hours per visit, the exact meter charges total $168 before processing fees. A hypothetical $150 monthly garage is $18 cheaper. At eight such visits, street charges are $84.
Then check assigned space, overnight storage, in-and-out access, tax, devices and cancellation. A cheaper agreement isn’t a substitute if you can’t enter when you need it.
Can I use a UT permit to store my car?
A C permit doesn’t solve continuous overnight storage: C/Longhorn Lots exclude 3–5 a.m. Check the S storage option and its fee, or a documented apartment parking agreement.
Settle where the car can stay while you’re home before adding occasional trips to campus. Compare West Campus apartments and ask each building what a space costs, whether one is guaranteed, and whether that charge is part of the lease total.
Questions
Is parking free after 6 p.m.?
Meter payment may end, but other posted restrictions can still apply. Read the specific space’s signs.
Does any West Campus apartment qualify for resident permits?
No. Check the address and rules; the listed policy gives properties with seven or more units only day passes.
Does a university permit include apartment parking?
No. Each operator’s agreement covers its own spaces and times.
How we got this
Austin’s payment window, rates and permit guidance were checked October 26, 2026. The main display rounds the four-hour price; monthly examples use the exact unrounded rate. The displayed tariff was effective September 1, 2020.
The garage price and visit counts are invented. The City’s statement about not towing legally parked vehicles overnight doesn’t cancel a posted restriction.
