How do I get my UT transcript or Academic Summary?
An official UT transcript costs $20 per copy through Texas One Stop. In place of an unofficial transcript, UT offers a free Academic Summary that you can download with your UT EID.
In this guide
How do I get my Academic Summary?
An Academic Summary is free. UT’s instructions explain how to view, download or print it with your EID.
Ask whether it needs an official transcript, an Academic Summary or proof of enrollment or a degree. The answer can save you an unnecessary order.
Which document do you need?
Do I need an official UT transcript?
Choose the delivery the recipient accepts and make sure the needed grades or degree have posted.
- Ask whether UT must send it directly to the recipient.
- Check the transcript or choose Hold for Grades or Hold for Degree.
- Review recipient, delivery and payment before ordering.
Would an Academic Summary be enough?
An Academic Summary is a course list, not a degree confirmation.
- Ask whether the recipient accepts a summary.
- Use UT’s Academic Summary service.
- Choose an official transcript instead if the recipient requires one.
Do I need proof of enrollment or a degree?
Enrollment certification is a different service from ordering a transcript.
- Ask what information and date the recipient needs.
- Read UT’s certification instructions.
- Choose the required document before paying for something else.
Do I need another school’s transcript held by UT?
UT’s copy isn’t a newly issued official transcript from that institution.
- Identify which institution issued it.
- Read UT’s previous-school transcript instructions.
- If an official original is required, follow the issuing school’s process.
What if my order is missing or incomplete?
Check the existing order before paying for another.
- Check payment, delivery and any grade or degree hold.
- For PDF delivery, check the recipient’s two emails and link date.
- Use order status or Transcript Services with the order details.
Which document fits?
An Academic Summary is a course list without the university seal or registrar’s signature. It doesn’t confirm a degree.
Scroll the table to compare every column.
| Need | Check this service |
|---|---|
| Official UT coursework, grades and degrees | Official UT transcript |
| An informal course list | Academic Summary, if the recipient accepts it |
| Proof of enrollment or an awarded degree | Enrollment certification |
| A copy of another school’s transcript held by UT | Previous-school transcript service, not a new official copy from that school |
Can I send a PDF or pick it up?
Online choices include PDF, mail and electronic delivery to eligible institutions through SPEEDE. Same-day pickup uses an in-person order; an online order doesn’t become a pickup order.
Scroll the table to compare every column.
| Method | Usual processing after payment | Check before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| Same day | Recipient accepts it; access link expires after 30 calendar days | |
| SPEEDE | Next business day | The exact institution is eligible for this route |
| Usually sent within two business days | Allow at least two weeks for domestic delivery; peaks can take longer | |
| Pickup | Same day for eligible in-person orders | Use the in-person process |
Should I wait for grades or my degree?
Check what must appear on the transcript. UT offers Hold for Grades and Hold for Degree options for information that hasn’t posted yet.
An exam being finished doesn’t mean the grade or degree has posted. Choose the hold that fits the recipient’s requirement and deadline.
What if my order hasn’t arrived?
Check the paid order’s status before placing another. PDF orders use their own checkout, and recipients get two access emails; don’t forward the DocuSign email.
One Stop warns that paid orders can’t be revised or canceled through the normal process and refunds may not be accepted. Review the recipient, delivery and hold choices before paying.
What if I need to send a transcript to UT?
Use Admissions’ instructions for your student type. Admissions doesn’t accept transcripts by ordinary email, and a screenshot or advising report won’t replace the required official document.
If a course is missing from your UT degree audit, resolve the credit or posting question before buying another UT transcript.
Questions
How much is an official transcript?
$20 per copy, with any delivery extras checked during ordering.
Is an Academic Summary an unofficial transcript?
UT offers it in place of an unofficial transcript. It’s free, and online copies carry an “unofficial copy” watermark. The seal and registrar’s signature appear only on the official transcript, so ask whether the recipient accepts a summary.
Can I get an official PDF?
Yes, through the ordering system where available for your destination. The recipient gets access instructions and a link that expires after 30 calendar days.
Does a PDF transcript appear in What I Owe?
PDF orders use a separate payment system. Use the existing order or Resume Unpaid PDF option instead of paying through another account.
Can I pick up an online order today?
No. Same-day pickup is for eligible in-person orders.
Should I order before final grades or a degree post?
Choose the relevant hold or wait until the information the recipient needs is on the transcript.
How we got this
The fee, document and delivery instructions come from Texas One Stop and Admissions, checked October 27, 2026. Two separately required $20 copies cost $40 before delivery extras; an unnecessary third copy adds $20.
The Academic Summary link, its free EID access and UT’s note that it replaces an unofficial transcript were checked November 4, 2026.
Processing time and delivery time are different. PDF and mail descriptions aren’t a guaranteed arrival date, and a hold waits for the relevant grade or degree to post.
